About Me
Zetao Xu

Hi! Welcome to my page. My name is Zetao Xu (徐泽韬), which is pronounced as [tsɣ35 htɑu55 ɕy35]. I am a PhD student at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), co-supervised by professorVictor Junnan Pan(CUHK) and professorRoberta D'Alessandro(Utrecht University). I am also a member ofPan's Syntax Lab. My PhD Topic is to investigate “contact-induced change of resumptive pronouns in heritage Chinese”, which is mainly conducted during my exchange at Utrecht University. The aim is to examine which part of the grammar system is resilient to language change, which part is not and why is that. In particular, how heritage syntax can contribute to the general understanding of linguistic theory and human mind. My research interests involve:

        • Chinese syntax (Mandarin, Wu dialect)
        • Heritage Chinese syntax in Europe
        • Language contact and variation
        • Indigenous languages in western China (nDrapa)
